Blancpain Makes Fifty Fathoms Tech a Bold Permanent Collection Star
Share

Blancpain just dropped something big, literally and figuratively. The new Fifty Fathoms Tech is now a permanent part of their lineup, not just a limited edition like the earlier Gombessa or Ocean Commitment models. It is a 45mm Grade 23 titanium diver, water resistant to 300 meters, with a deep matte black dial that absorbs 97 percent of light, so the bright orange “TECH” logo and lume markers really pop. It is powered by Blancpain’s Calibre 1315A, a beast of a movement with a 5 day power reserve and a silicon balance spring, visible through the sapphire caseback. The unidirectional ceramic bezel has sharp knurling for easy grip, even with gloves on. It is a purpose built tool watch but dressed for adventure. What makes this one different is its focus on real world versatility. Blancpain has added a new tool free quick release strap system, letting you swap from black to white to vivid orange straps in seconds, no screwdriver needed. It is also delivered in a rugged Peli case that is waterproof and shock resistant, perfect for actual divers or just folks who like good design. The watch keeps everything serious under the hood but is not afraid to have some fun with color and strap combos. At around 22700 dollars, it is a serious piece but for those who want flagship dive watch specs without feeling stuck in heritage reissue mode, the new Fifty Fathoms Tech might just be the most modern Blancpain yet.
