Veloce — The Watch Collector's Community operates a web platform (theveloceapp.com / veloceblog.com) and native iOS and Android apps providing a social community, editorial blog, brand directory, e-commerce shop, and paid brand promotion features (the "Services"). The platform is powered by Firebase, Shopify, Stripe, and Resend.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use our Services, or communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to the collection, processing, and disclosure of your personal information.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

Personal Information We Collect or Process

When we use the term "personal information," we are referring to information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. We may collect or process the following categories of personal information, depending on how you interact with the Services:

  • Contact details including your name, address, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.
  • Financial information including payment card information, transaction details, and payment confirmation. Payment card data is processed by Shopify or Stripe and is not stored on Veloce servers.
  • Account information including your username, password, profile photo, bio, preferences and settings.
  • Transaction information including items you view, add to cart, or purchase through the Veloce shop, and your past transactions.
  • User-generated content including watch photos, post descriptions, comments, and any other content you publish on the platform.
  • Email subscription data including your email address when you subscribe to the Veloce newsletter via web form or in-app.
  • News submission data including your name, email address, phone number, company name, website links, submitted images, and submission description when you use the Submit Watch News paid feature.
  • Communications with us including the content of messages you send to our support team.
  • Device information including information about your device, browser, or network connection, your IP address, and unique identifiers (including mobile advertising IDs).
  • Usage information including how and when you interact with or navigate the Services, pages visited, features used, and time spent.
  • Email engagement data including whether you open our emails and which links you click, tracked via our email delivery provider.

Personal Information Sources

  • Directly from you including when you create an account, visit or use the Services, make a purchase, submit a news submission, subscribe to our newsletter, or communicate with us.
  • Automatically through the Services including from your device when you use the app or visit the website, through cookies, Google Analytics 4, and similar technologies. On the website, analytics data is only collected after you consent via our cookie consent banner.
  • From email interactions including open and click tracking when you receive emails from us via Resend, our email delivery provider.
  • From our service providers including Shopify, Stripe, Firebase, and Resend, which collect or process personal information on our behalf.
  • From third-party authentication providers including Google and Apple when you log in using those services.

How We Use Your Personal Information

  • Provide, Tailor, and Improve the Services. We use your personal information to operate the platform, process payments, fulfill shop orders, manage your account, enable community features (posts, comments, follows), and improve the user experience.
  • Process Paid Submissions. When you use the Submit Watch News feature, we use your submission data (name, email, company, content) to create a blog post draft, contact you with any editorial questions, and fulfill the package you purchased. Submission data is stored in our database for a reasonable period to handle any disputes or refund requests.
  • Newsletter and Email Communications. We use your email address to send newsletters, community updates, and promotional content to subscribers who have opted in. We also send transactional emails (account activity, order confirmations) to registered users.
  • Email Engagement Tracking. When you receive an email from Veloce, we track whether you open the email and which links you click using Resend. This engagement data is stored in your account or subscriber profile in our database. We use this information to understand content preferences, measure newsletter effectiveness, and segment our audience (for example, to identify highly engaged readers vs. inactive subscribers). This data is used internally only and is not sold to third parties.
  • Marketing and Advertising. We use your information for marketing communications by email and to show relevant advertisements within the mobile app via Google AdMob. Advertising networks may use device identifiers to serve interest-based ads.
  • User-Generated Content and Cross-Platform Sharing. Content you post publicly on the Veloce app (photos, descriptions, comments) is also displayed publicly on the Veloce website. By posting publicly, you consent to this cross-platform visibility.
  • Security and Fraud Prevention. We use your information to authenticate your account, secure payment processing, detect fraudulent or illegal activity, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Legal Reasons. We use your information to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, and enforce our terms and policies.

How We Disclose Personal Information

In certain circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy. Such circumstances may include:

  • With Shopify for e-commerce processing, order fulfillment, payment handling, and related services for the Veloce shop.
  • With Stripe for payment processing of paid submission packages. Your payment card data is transmitted directly to Stripe and is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
  • With Resend for email delivery and engagement tracking. Your email address and engagement data (opens, clicks) are processed by Resend to deliver our newsletters and measure their performance.
  • With Firebase (Google) for authentication, database storage (Firestore), and file storage (Firebase Storage). Your account data, posts, and uploaded images are stored in Google-managed infrastructure.
  • With Google Analytics 4 for website usage analytics, subject to your cookie consent preferences.
  • With Google AdMob for in-app advertising. AdMob may use device identifiers to serve relevant advertisements.
  • When you direct or consent to our disclosure of information to third parties, such as when shipping products or using social login integrations.
  • In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations or to protect our rights and the rights of our users.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on the Veloce website. A cookie is a small file stored on your device that helps us recognize you and remember your preferences.

Types of cookies we use:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the website to function, such as maintaining your session and authentication state. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to track page views, interactions, and usage patterns. These cookies are only activated after you accept via our cookie consent banner. We use GA4 with Consent Mode v2, meaning no analytics data is collected until you give explicit consent.
  • Advertising cookies: Google AdMob (in the mobile app) and Google Ads may use device identifiers and cookies for interest-based advertising.

Managing cookies: When you first visit the Veloce website, a cookie consent banner gives you the choice to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.

Third-party cookies: Google Analytics and AdMob are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control how Google uses data collected through these services.

Relationship with Third-Party Service Providers

Veloce is built on several third-party platforms that independently collect and process personal information. Links to their respective privacy policies are provided below:

  • Shopify: Powers the Veloce shop and processes e-commerce transactions. Information you submit via the shop may be transmitted to and processed by Shopify. Visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify Privacy Portal for your rights regarding data held by Shopify.
  • Stripe: Processes payments for the Submit Watch News paid submission feature. Stripe handles your payment card data directly. Stripe's Privacy Policy governs how your payment data is handled.
  • Resend: Delivers newsletters and transactional emails from Veloce. Your email address and engagement metrics (opens, clicks) are processed by Resend. Resend's Privacy Policy governs their handling of this data.
  • Firebase (Google): Provides authentication, Firestore database, and Firebase Storage. Your account, posts, comments, and uploaded images are stored in Google's infrastructure. Google's Privacy Policy governs this data.

These providers may store or process your data in countries other than where you reside. We have agreements with each provider to ensure appropriate data protection measures are in place.

Third Party Websites and Links

The Services may provide links to websites or other online platforms operated by third parties. If you follow links to sites not affiliated or controlled by us, you should review their privacy and security policies and other terms and conditions. We do not guarantee and are not responsible for the privacy or security of such sites. Our inclusion of such links does not imply any endorsement of the content on such platforms.

Children's Data

The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, you may contact us using the contact details set out below to request that it be deleted. We do not knowingly "share" or "sell" personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Security and Retention of Your Information

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee "perfect security." We recommend that you do not use unsecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

Retention periods:

  • Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion request, account data is removed within 30 days, subject to legal obligations.
  • Community posts and comments: Public posts and comments may remain visible after account deletion unless you explicitly request their removal. Contact us at hello@theveloceapp.com to request deletion of specific content.
  • News submission data: Retained for a reasonable period after publication to handle disputes or refund requests, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Email subscription data: Retained until you unsubscribe. Following unsubscribe, your email is removed from active send lists within a reasonable time.
  • Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained longer for trend analysis.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights listed below in relation to your personal information. These rights are not absolute and may apply only in certain circumstances.

  • Right to Access / Know. You may have a right to request access to personal information that we hold about you.
  • Right to Delete. You may have a right to request that we delete personal information we maintain about you. If you have a Veloce app account, you may request deletion directly within the app via Account Settings, or by contacting us at hello@theveloceapp.com.
  • Right to Correct. You may have a right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right of Portability. You may have a right to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to request that we transfer it to a third party, in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Opt out of Sale or Sharing for Targeted Advertising. Depending on where you reside, you may have a right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes.
  • Managing Newsletter Preferences. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting hello@theveloceapp.com.
  • Managing Cookie Preferences. You may withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies and adjusting your preferences via the cookie banner on your next visit.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

US State Privacy Rights: Depending on your U.S. state of residence (such as California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah), you may be granted specific rights regarding access to, deletion of, and opt-out from the sale or sharing of your personal information. International Transfers

We may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside the country you live in. Our service providers (including Google Firebase, Stripe, Shopify, and Resend) may store or process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. If we transfer your personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we will rely on recognized transfer mechanisms like the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent contracts, unless the destination country has been determined to provide an adequate level of protection.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy on this website and update the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
