The Ressence Type 5: A Dive Watch from the Future

The Ressence Type 5 isn’t your typical dive watch. Instead of hands that tick around a dial, it uses rotating discs that seem to float just under the glass. That’s because the face is actually filled with oil, which removes all reflections and makes it incredibly easy to read underwater or from any angle. It’s a wild concept, but when you see it in person, it feels like the time is printed right on the surface. The whole watch has a super clean, modern look, but underneath it’s still fully mechanical. What makes the Type 5 even more unique is how you set the time. There’s no crown on the side, you actually rotate the caseback to adjust everything. Inside, a clever system separates the oil-filled upper half from the dry, moving parts below. It’s not just cool to look at, it’s also a legit dive watch with 100 meters of water resistance and a lightweight titanium case. Ressence has taken the dive watch and completely reimagined it, blending futuristic design with old-school mechanics in a way no one else really has.
